Heritage & Period-Style Timber Gates

Choose a period-style timber gate by its proportions and visible details. Timber Gates Online makes gates in Melbourne to your measurements, with original photographs, catalogue drawings and an interactive visualiser to help you compare the options.

Work with the frontage you already have

Photograph your fence, verandah, path and driveway together. Look for repeated rails, curves, picket shapes and decorative details. A named period is a starting point rather than a guarantee of a historical match; send close-ups or a reference photograph when discussing a custom variation.

Compare pedestrian and driveway entrances as one frontage. Their rail positions and infill can relate without making their sizes identical. Browse all 42 named designs, then open your preferred option in the visualiser.

Separate the outline from openness

A dipped or arched top describes the profile; it does not tell you whether the panels are see-through. Open pickets have spaces between the boards. Enclosed panels block the view between boards, and some designs keep a solid lower base as standard. Decorative tulips, clovers, diamonds, slots and round holes shown as cutouts are openings through the timber, not ornaments stuck on its face.

How do I compare a design at my measurements?

Enter the clear post-to-post opening and highest overall height in millimetres, choose pedestrian, double or sliding, then switch to Drawing. The sketch responds to your dimensions and section choices. It is a concept, not an image of the gate on your property or a final manufacturing drawing.

What does made-to-order supply cost?

Pedestrian gates use $1,200 per metre of opening width; double and sliding gates use $980 per metre of total opening width. GST is included and height does not change the base rate. A 1 m pedestrian gate is $1,200 before freight and extras. Confirm custom variations and delivery in your quote.

Buy your gate direct and choose your own installer. Send your design, measurements, post requirements, postcode and entrance photos. We confirm manufacturing clearances, material, supplied finish and inclusions before manufacture. See our original workshop examples for further design details.
