How to Use the Timber Gate Calculator & Visualiser

Choose a design, enter your opening and overall height, compare the responsive Drawing and bring your estimate into a quote enquiry. You can check the steps below in the live calculator.

Try the example with Willow ↗

1. Choose the design and gate type

Start with Willow and choose Double gates. Browse the catalogue reference to check the original appearance, then switch to Drawing. The catalogue image stays as a reference; Drawing is the view that responds to the controls.

2. Enter a 3,000 mm opening and 1,500 mm overall height

Use the clear post-to-post opening: enter the full 3,000 mm once for double gates, not 3,000 mm for each leaf. Height means the highest overall point, including an arch or shaped top. Manufacturing clearances are confirmed before production.

3. Compare open and enclosed sections

Use the available section choices for the selected design. Baby blue shows spaces you can see through. Standard solid bases stay enclosed, and decorative cutouts stay openings through the timber. The sketch is a concept, not a photo of a gate placed on your property or a final shop drawing.

Actual calculator example: Willow, double gates, 3,000 × 1,500 mm, open sections and Melbourne delivery. The screenshot shows the concept Drawing, not a final manufacturing drawing.

4. Read the gate estimate

Worked base-price examples — GST included, before delivery and extras
Gate typeOpeningCalculationGate estimate
Pedestrian1,000 mm1 m × $1,200$1,200
Double3,000 mm total3 m × $980$2,940
Sliding3,000 mm opening3 m × $980$2,940

Changing height does not change the base width rate. Delivery, posts, hardware and custom extras are separate. Confirm custom thicknesses and variations by quote; the calculator does not automatically price every custom specification.

5. Choose delivery and post requirements

For this Melbourne example, published delivery is $88 including GST. A $2,940 gate plus $88 delivery gives $3,028 before other quoted items. Check the delivery table for your destination and gate type; some slider destinations need a freight quote.

Select existing posts or request new posts. Your installer should check post suitability, footings and hardware. The calculator’s post-length allowance is a quoting guide, not a footing design.

6. Bring the summary into your enquiry

Choose “Use these details in my quote”. Check the transferred summary, add your name and email, postcode and entrance photos, then send your enquiry. This requests a confirmed quote; it does not place an order or take payment.

What happens next?

We confirm design, measurements, fitting allowances, material, finish, freight and inclusions before manufacture. Gates are made to order: allow 4–6 weeks from time of order. Supply is gate-only unless additional items are quoted; arrange your own carpenter or gate installer and source a compatible motor separately if required.
