Timber Gate Construction & Workshop Evidence
See the details behind a made-to-order timber gate: frames, enclosed panels, open slats and decorative through-cutouts. These original workshop photographs help you compare what is solid and what you can see through.
Mortise-and-tenon frames with screw reinforcement
Our gate frames use mortise-and-tenon joints with custom-made 300 mm screws underneath the joints as additional reinforcement. This construction description is confirmed by the business owner. The photographs below show assembled gates and panel details; they do not expose the concealed joints or screws and are not a comparative strength test.
Made to order, supplied ready for painting
Standard LOSP treated pine gates are supplied treated and raw. Standard gate thickness is 65 mm; other thicknesses and timbers are available by custom enquiry, with specification and pricing confirmed before manufacture. The frame uses mortise-and-tenon joints reinforced with custom-made 300 mm screws underneath the joints.
The manufacturer’s structural warranty is 10 years. Keep treated pine painted and maintained: repaint or touch up every two years. Read the painting and care guidance. Allow 4–6 weeks from time of order; confirm freight arrangements separately.
Open pickets are not solid panels

A gate can have an open top and a solid base

Decorative cutouts pass through the timber

Use the evidence when selecting a design
Compare Aspen’s enclosed base and cutouts, Miles’ enclosed panels and curved brace and Willow’s open pickets. A photograph shows the particular gate pictured; final dimensions, finish and hardware are confirmed for each order.
What to confirm before manufacture
Send your chosen design, post-to-post opening, highest overall height, post details, entrance photos and postcode. Confirm any custom thickness, timber, section treatment and hardware in writing. Buy a compatible motor separately if required and arrange your own installer: gate supply does not include motors or installation.
